Looking at ordering some immunovir from these guys but will have to wait until i see my doc next to get a prescription. Price seems good at 51p a tab. 200 tabs is approx $160 aussie $ and should last about 10 weeks. I would like to improve my immune system enough to come off antibiotics for sinuses and amybe av's.

Now dosages, i have read dr cheney has a schedule of 2 tabs 3 times a day on mon/wed/fri and just 2 tabs tues/thur with weekends off. dr Hyde suggest 2 tabs 3 times a day mon-fri with week ends off and alternate weeks just 2 tabs a day mon-fri. both recommended using for 2 months with a month off and repeat. I think it was someone here who just took 6 tabs a day throughout the day all the time for a few months with a month off every so often, this person felt that the weeks when on only 2 tabs that they didnt feel as well so kept the dose high.

Interested to hear from others who have tried different doses and what they thought was most effective for them. The first schedule sounds best to me but im only guessing.

cheers!!!

I started off on 2 tabs 3 times a day, but quickly settled on 2 tabs 2 times a day. I don't pulse it, just take it continuously.

I can't see why not. Get a capsule machine with size '0' capsules. That should do 500mg dosages I think. My size '00' capsule machine does 750mg.

Then again customs let antibiotics through because they're personal use quantities. Maybe it would be different with this.

you have to pulse it or it will stop working eventually.

I started 1/2 pill 3 days. If tolerated move on if not stay in doses.
1 pill 3 days. If tolerated move on if not stay in doses.
2 pill a day. If tolerated move on if not stay in doses.

Week 1, and week 3 = 2 pills a day.
Week 2 and 4 = 3 pills a day.
Weekends Off (I do Sundays and Mondays instead, more convenient for me).

6 months on, 1 month Off start again.
Repeat tests at 4 month. You have to test for uric acid every 4 months and before starting.

Not tolerating: For me this was severe pain in the knee and hip, to the point I couldn't walk. Back off doses and problem was resolved intermediately.
On days Off: Severe sadness, very moody. Also, Very severe flue like symptoms. This lasted 4 times. Now on day offs I am the same as in day on. When I am on 3 pills a day I feel more flueish.

I went from 4 to 8 in 2.5 months so Loving it so far.

For me staying on dose is the only option. Every time I go off dose I feel horrible. I'm mainly taking it for its anti-inflammation effects (I get horrible inflammation when off imunovir). If you are using it purely as an immunomodulator then it supposedly works better when pulsed, but who really knows. Anyway just thought I'd let you know that I take it constantly.

I thought I saw some sellers doing 1kg? That's just under a year supply at maximum dose for a single person (taken every day, which you don't and unlikely at maximum dose)

The other problem is, how good is the quality?

I just sent an enquiry to all the suppliers that will deliver a minimum of 1KG. Wait and see.

When I tried it initially I was prescribed the drug by the NHS in the UK(!) and was able to get enough to try the Cheney protocol of days on and off and then a break. Since I started to buy it myself (NHS refused to continue prescription when the NICE guideline came in and I changed doctor) I can only afford to take 1 or 2 tablets a day and I take a break when I run out and am waiting for new supplies to arrive. Some days I forget to take it or am not well enough to get out of bed to get it.

The most striking success is what I take imunovir and Valtrex at the same time. For some strange reason I am better if I remember to take both on the same day and for a week together.

The other really strange thing I noticed is that if I take Imunovir with antibiotics (i.e. for an infection) then I get less bad reactions to the AB's. This is a significant change for me and has led to periods of noticeably higher functioning. Very curious to know why.

ukxmrv's experiences fit in with my own. One of the major functions of imunovir is to raise Uric acid levels. Uric acid is one of the body's most potent antioxidants:

The Other Side of Uric Acid
Over the years, low serum uric acid has been associated with multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease of the central nervous system in young adults during their most productive years. Recently, studies have also linked low serum uric acid to Parkinsons disease and schizophrenia. This is possible as uric acid is also a powerful antioxidant that offers much protection against cell damages.

Major Antioxidant
Uric acid is significantly effective in scavenging free radicals in plasma and preventing lipid peroxidation. It is much more easily oxidized compared to other antioxidants as well as easily destroyed by hydroxyl radicals. With concentration more than ten fold as compared to Vitamin C, uric acid is one of the major antioxidants in humans.

Protection against Oxidative Damages
According to Dr. Lubert Stryer, a neurobiology professor, humans high uric acid levels evolved to replace the functions of Vitamin C and to protect against oxidative damages. He also pointed out that lower primates have lower serum uric acid levels compared to the elephants and other long-lived mammals, and usually have lower life span and higher cancer rates. Numerous studies have shown that the level of uric acid increases as the body undergoes acute oxidative stress such as heavy sport activities, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries as well as ischemic stroke. Scientists postulated that the increased concentration offers protection against increased free radical activity during the stress. Uric acid is also present in our nasal secretions in which the nasal mucous surfaces face lots of oxidative stress.

I know inosine has been mentioned as an alternative to immunovir. How is it immunovir manages to be more effective than inosine when inosine is a direct precursor to uric acid? What is it about immunovir that makes it a more efficient precursor considering it's cost. Or is raising uric acid levels only one property of immunovir and there are other beneficial effects it has?

Here is why Imunovir was prescribed to me:

I have low natural killer cell 1.2 range 5-15, and low T cells, Imunovir is suppose to regulate the immune system and help raise T and NK cell. I know a patient of the same CFS specialist that did not get prescribed imunovir because the NK was normal.

The patients that Have Low NK AND viral reactivation high got Imunovir + Antiviral (famvir....).

In my case the reactivation was Parvo, HH6V and Coacxackie so I got Imunovir for the Low NK and equillibrant as the antiviral. If my viral load is not controlled with equillibrant, they will give AV (Famvir)

They gave me both options Inosine or Imunovir. She said Imunovir was more potent, so I chose it, but I know other patients were told it was about the same.

I saw Dr Munro at the Breakspear and she has prescribed Immunovir for me because I have several over the range antibodies to several Herpe type viruses. However she wants me to take 2 tablets x 4 daily every day for a month to see how I go.

Naturally after reading on the Net and the posts here I am not very happy about starting straight off at such a high dose and I am also worried about taking it every day so what I think I am going to do is to take 1 tab x 3 for the first week with 2 days off and then 2 x 3 with weekends off and see how it goes. I guess I should know fairly quickly whether it is helping because I have been fighting a virus for nearly 2 weeks that has given me a very sore red throat.

She also wants me to take lots of supplements to help the poor oxygen levels in my body and also wants me to breathe pure oxygen for 4 hours daily. However I think I am going to try my local MS centre where they have a hyperbaric oxygen chamber as I have heard it can help.
