Pain is very commonly not measured in ME/CFS research specifically by those of the CBT School of Thought (Wessely/White/Chalder/Sharpe School of Thought).

I thought it was interesting that how much an observer likes/dislikes an individual can alter their perception of how bad the pain is.

Could also affect ME/CFS patients' interactions with doctors who often don't seem to like such patients.

Another example of the problems with subjective outcome measures.
