thanks ukxmrv!
i was on valtrex years ago. cant remember if it helped flulike feeling, but it did help my cognitive functioning, and did help a bit w cfs in general. maybe i will try it again. glad you have found some things that have helped you. i hope to see dr klimas's clinic at some point this year and will see what they recommend for the flulike symptoms. imunovir sounds interesting.
yes, the lung thing is strange. i am determined to find out the cause of it. bring on the speciallist dr and the testing. and like you, i know its not the muscles near lungs, because i have had that before and this is different. this is a steady dull ache and full and tight feeling. i'll let you know what i find out.
take care all

I take 'flu-like' to refer to the aching joints, chills and malaise, and not to upper-respiratory type symptoms (I'd call those 'cold-like').

Before I got this DD, I never had the flu like symptoms and rarely got sick. I remember the first time I felt this way and at the time did think I was getting the flu.

This is my description: It's an ache clear down to the bone like your bones are frozen and feels like it's sucking the life force out of you.

I have found explaining my symptoms to doctors as well as when applying for disabilitu.for the most part, really helped. For example my doctor puts FM with chronic pain and exhaustion, which should go with the definition of FM but it reinforces the severity of my symptoms this DD. In the states, some doctors do understand FM and the diagnosis is accepted more than even five years ago. Especially in the last five years as it's been accepted as a diagnosis by the American College of Rheumatologist. However, I see a nurologist and not a rheumatologist and have found this more helpful as he also deals with my sleep issues.

I say I feel like I have a heavy cold or flu. I get very run-down with a blocked nose (sinus) and sore throat. I feel very drained of energy and can't think straight. It definitely feels like flu combined with a hangover!
