Hi, all.

There is a disorder recognized in sports medicine called "Overtraining Syndrome." After reading descriptions of the symptoms, I think it is really the same as ME/CFS.

Best regards,

Rich

Rich,

Dr. Chris Snell of the Pacific Fatigue Lab said the same thing at the Oct 2010 CFSAC meeting -- see http://vimeo.com/16977122 @ minute marker 19:20.

"Our background causes us to understand an illness called overtraining syndrome. And the definition up there* might equally well apply to chronic fatigue syndrome. However, overtraining syndrome is looked at differently than chronic fatigue syndrome because of the population that it affects."

* Definition on slide read: "Sustained reductions in performance often accompanied by other biochemical, physiological and psychological changes".
(video, slides, transcript all available at http://www.hhs.gov/advcomcfs/meetings/index.html.
