this it the age-old fallacy of: we haven't run the right tests or the right tests don't yet exist, so it must be entirely or partially a personal/behavioural problem of the patient. This has happened to MS, RA, and a host of other diseases, and it is far past time to be disavowed entirely.

This is part of the Psychogenic Fallacy that has been written up in the academic literature. Its obvious yet widely ignored.

Judging by the references, this looks like the reply by Nijs and a co-author to the Derek Enlander letter:

The references are generally biological but judging by the last few, it could still be at least a little annoying.
