I have to hear the audio but I believe she made that statement in displeasure concerning advocates criticism of the IoM.... I also believe that she or someone else stated that the CFSAC has no power to do anything?
I think it’s worth remembering that the Federal Advisory Committee Act restricts the degree to which HHS can interfere in this IOM panel. The Act states that a government agency cannot use recommendations from an IOM committee created at the request of the government unless a) the committee was not subject to any management or control by an agency or officer of the government....

That was an indictment and a criticism of the advocacy community, and I need to respond to that on behalf of the advocates. I can't let that stand.
This is a _highly_ contested issue. But for the most part you have seen constructive criticism -- experts' letters, advocates' letters, petitions, the congressional meetings, the demonstration, the proper letters, the Twitter campaign, media articles. So I am standing up for the community, saying thank you to the community for all they are doing.
The December 2013 CFS Advisory Committee meeting was controversial before it began, and honestly things only went downhill from there. I don’t think I have it in me to list everything that was wrong with the meeting, and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to read that whole list either. Let’s just focus on the lowlights: the tech, the wreck, and the waste....
