the post also mentioned a doctor saying he had an influx of patients with the new disease and the CDC set up a new department to cope with the outbreak, but when both were asked about it later on they denied any klnowlwdge of it.

Thanks for all that guys. Yes, why were the Psychos effectively allowed to erase all the biomedical findings here. Wonder if anyone will ever get to the bottom of that. We still battle with the legacy. One suspects the worst - a culture of "personalities" in those times.
