Candida is killing me...

He has a theory that it can be the be excitatory amino acids that is causing it: Aspartic acid, glutamate and cysteine. If I can find proteins that does not contain these, I can eat more of those!
Does he have a reason to believe that cysteine is excitatory? I've had the opposite experience: it's NAC which puts the breaks on my brain and lets me get some quality sleep. It also joins up with glutamate (and glycine) to produce glutathione, so would probably be helping to reduce levels of glutamate in the process, which actually is excitatory.

Unless you have the last stages of gut inflammation (UC, Crohn´s) they will say you have "IBS" (hah! hah! What a comical name! Its great!... "Irritable Bowel Disease"...) and alltogether not treat you at all.

IBS, like CFS, is another generic condition which roughly translate to "i dunno wots wrong with yer but I need to give you an acronym"

I will try to get more infor about it from him. I think there is definitely something to the aminacid theory here. I ate 25 g of gelatin yesterday, and it went totally fine.... need to investigate more.

@optomist Check out the book by authors Jaminet, on Amazon or other book sites, called "The Perfect Health Diet" (disregard the silly name for a book title, the book is very well researched).

The author was on a very low carb diet like yours is, candida got worse on that, and he researched and found proof that the gut walls function much better with some starch in the diet, and why. He healed his candida by adding in CERTAIN types of starch to the diet, not by leaving more carbs out from his already very low carb diet. certain starches function in this manner, different than sugar or fructose does.

Amazon allows some preview to the book contents, and you can do a search for the word "candida" within that preview I think, to get a glimpse. Author's website gives a nice rundown on the reasoning, you might be able to get the gist of it at his website instead of buying the book.

Hello @South! Sorry for the late reply! I also experience worsening when on too low carb diet. I need at least some (fruit)suger and fibers. Starch is a difficult issue, but what you say is sure sounding interesting!
