I am trying to put a bit of humour into my sad tale. Would you believe I have got my 7th virus since last October.
The majority of them have been ones that affect my throat making it very sore and this affects my energy making it very crap. But on top of these fairly common for me throat viruses which turn into infections I am now on my 2nd cold since February. I went years without colds (but with the throat viruses) but I did get one last winter and now I have got a very heavy one passed to me by my partner.
I had felt crap last Sunday with a different sort of virus that gave me a very sore throat and also a severe migraine. I felt rubbish for a couple of days and then a bit better but it wasn't to last because of my partner getting this severe head cold. The sore throat never left me from last Sunday.
On top of these types of viruses I also had a very nasty virus of the Norovirus in January which was shockingly violent and took me a week to get over that.
I have to take a replacement dose of steroids (6mg Prednisolone and 2.5 mg hydrocortisone) plus 2 1/2 grains dessicated thyroid. I used to wonder if I was at Addison's level but as I didn't go into crisis and didn't take hardly any extra steroid with the Norovirus I definitely don't think I do have this. My body always responds to just a tiny bit of extra steroid and would overreact to the high doses they use in hospitals.
When tested a couple of years ago at Breakspear I did have 5 Herpes-type viruses over the range but nothing much else showed up apart from the need to use oxygen 3 times daily to boost the low oxygen they found in my cells after mild exercise. The oxygen concentrator does help me to feel better practically every time I use it but has done nothing regarding the virus issue.
Usually I am much better in summer and don't pick up everything going then. I can spend quite a lot of time outdoors in the fresh air then but always having to pace what I do like everyone else.
My immune system is rubbish but this year is horrendous will I ever feel well again? Blood tests have shown a mild neutropenia and always I have low white blood cell count but my GP never says anything much about this.
