This device does sound interesting and appealing as a way of addressing alpha intrusions, one of the many types of sleep disorders. I would want to know more information than is on the web site, though.
It sounds like it senses alpha EEG waves, which bring you out of a sound sleep or prevent you from sleeping. I assume it then entrains brainwaves into the lower waves associated with sleep such as theta and delta. However, I don't think this would work for every person.
I have an overabundance of waking slow-wave activity, and any entrainment in theta or delta gives me very serious brainfog, which in my case can last for weeks. I'm sure my brain waves are highest in theta and delta when I'm sleeping, but entraining in these frequencies is one of the worse things for my cognitive health.
Since there are so many types of sleep disorders, an overnight sleep study that measures brainwave activity would be really helpful to see if you do have alpha intrusions. However, these days U.S. insurance companies are much more interested in doing the less expensive kinds of testing such as home studies that detect sleep apnea, but not anything else.
Elemind says on their web site that they have a 30-day guarantee. If anyone tries it, please post here.
