better after having fever?

Last week I had to stop working and rest in bed because of svere nausea and exaustion, a well known condition... I feared a major relapse, feeling so ill.
After a few days I got terrible headaches that did not respond to pain medication and a low grade fever, surprisingly the next day I was a lot better, and even though I am more tired than before and need to rest far more than usual, I am back to work.
Has anybody experienced something similar? My conclusion was that once my immunesystem started a "healthy" response I got better.

Well it's strange you said that, @itsme because 12 weeks ago I caught a flu-like thing which caused no fever. Usually flu gives me fever and that one didn't. That was also a nausea/headache/and other symptoms thing but not respiratory.
I have been unable to 100% shake it off and it's resulted in "post viral fatigue" (first time in my life my immune system hasn't nuked something.)
I hope you continue to improve. Take it steady. Kind wishes.

If you search PR you'll find this a lot. My own personal armchair theory is because when we have a bad fever or are very ill we typically don't eat, eat less, or eat a very narrow range of foods.

My theory goes that our body is working with our backup generator, the liver, to produce energy instead of totally relying on digestion. The same sort of bump can be had from doing Intermittent Fasting, at least - at first. My experience was at first I had a ton of energy and then it fizzled, the body adjusted and that was that, I had CFS and fatigue again -- AND I got to be hungry all day which was really unpleasant and some bad side effects -- but initially there was an energy bump absolutely.

You could do an experiment of one when you feel better though - simply skip breakfast one day, if you have the energy bump, wallah, that's your liver cranking out energy from its storage.

Some hypothesize though improvements from having colds and viral illnesses so it's an interesting topic to deep dive with the PR search function. :) I hope you are feeling better!

Thats an interesting theory .... I actually skip breakfast on every workday, just because if I start my metabolim in the morning an go to work, I will be hypoglycemic around 10.30 a.m. I,ve been unconscious on the floor because of that, but without breakfast it almost never happens. Lately i found out that if the frequency of hypoglycaemic events increases a crash is coming. I hope to one day make it to bed early enough to prevent the real crash.
