Bartonella Streaks?

I have had weird purple "stretch marks" on my left inner thigh and a little around my knees for a while now. I was quite suspicious that they may be growing but never bothered to measure them or do anything about it.

Anyway over the last couple of weeks a bunch of big ones have appeared on my inner right thigh in a short space of time.

I don't think they are stretch marks as I haven't lost a bunch of weight (or was ever really that fat) nor have I being stretching my inner thigh.

I recently heard a podcast in which Dr Klinghardt mentioned weird stretch marks being a sign of bartonella. If you look here you can see similar looking stretch marks caused by bartonella. I will upload a pic of mine but to be honest it is really hard to see them properly on my shot. Don't no whether it's poor camera quality or lighting. They are much darker purple and bigger in real life.

Does anyone know of anything else that could cause this (Ellers danlos)? I know Bartonella is a co-infection of Lyme but I have had a Lyme antibody test come back negative.

My son had the same thing across his back. Looked like he'd been whipped.

And yes. It's Bartonella.

We're treating with the Buhner herbs, in case you're interested.

@sb4 I had the same rash on my hips and thighs three years ago before getting ill, we thought they were just stretch marks but it was weird because I hadn't lost or gained any weight. Mine were a bit more pronounced and actually became a little sore, anyway, three months after they went down I caught my triggering flu and came down with CFS and a bunch of bartonella symptoms which made me look back and realise that's what they probably were. I've recently had positive testing for Lyme but funnily enough Bartonella came back negative so either it is hiding out or I have eliminated it.

Interesting, did you get positive Lyme test through nhs?

You say the stretch marks went down. Do you mean faded or disappeared?

I wonder why they started growing again, bartonella reactivation due to change in immune conditions?

Its good you have a positive test, how do you plan on treating it?

I've had two negative ELISA tests through the NHS, but I went via Armin labs and got quite a strong positive. I was really surprised Bartonella didn't come up on antibodies but I may have an ELispot done for it too. I will seek out a private practitioner for Lyme - more money! :(

Yes they just gradually faded away, they were slightly raised too which is what I meant by went down. They probably arrived in Sept 2015ish and went down in October, I became ill with flu in December and everything kicked off (This is the story of how my symptoms progressed https://fatigo.wordpress.com/2018/05/02/my-experience-with-me-cfs-and-fibromyalgia/ )

Do you mean why they started occurring for you? I guess it can hide out in muscle tissue and spinal fluid etc. and maybe something you have taken or done recently has triggered a reactivation.

Hmmm, perhaps I didn't have a Lyme test done after all. I found the letter out and it says "no evidence of previous infection with Cytomegalo virus, EBV or HHV6". No mention of Lyme. Perhaps it came back negative and they forgot to put it in the letter. Either way I am very skeptical of the thoroughness of NHS testing for Lyme and co-infections. I see this is the website but they have a viarity of tests. Which test did you do, what type of samples needed, and the cost?

Your blog rings true a lot with me, particularly pushing through with work, doctors being less than useless, etc.

My streaks aren't raised really. It just really looks like the skin there has been stretched and replaced by very smooth purple skin.

I am interested. Have you a positive test for Bartonella and/or Lyme? Is your son getting better with the herbs?

We had a negative test for Bartonella, but it was antibodies for one species only (because that's what they do here in the Government lab in Australia). Those stripes are so diagnostic that our LLMD took one look and said 'yep, Bartonella'.

It is common for people to test negative to Bartonella but have it anyway.

We treated with herbs for 5 months, antibiotics + herbs for 3 months (to speed things up), and now (a year later) we're still on herbs and still improving. We need to up the dose a bit to move things along.

Herbs are very, very slow. But they are also more gentle as you can increase the dosage slowly and as the body can cope with he die off. To begin with, my son could cope with 1 drop of Sida acuta diluted in enough water to make it last a dose a day for a week! Japanese knotweed gave an instant reduction in irritability.

Just so you know, we're also following the Freddd protocol to treat a B12 and B2 deficiency, supplement carefully with zinc and b6, and we've just started a combination of Huperzine A, acetyl-L-carnitine and choline (as either alpha GPC or eggs, depending on the day) and d-ribose + tea (for ATP issues).

@CCC Thanks, definitely something to look at in the future. I am going to bring it up when I see the CFS infectious disease specialists but I'm certain they will blow it off.

It's very cheap just to buy a couple of the core Buhner herbs and see if they make a difference. I was convinced from the immediate reaction to japanese knotweed (just a very few crumbs of powder on the tongue) and the extreme reaction to Sida acuta, but not everyone has the same response.

@sb4,

here is a long video about bartonella:

here is the website for Galaxy Diagnostics (both of the people in the video are involved in this company) , who have developed some tests for Bartonella infection.

https://www.galaxydx.com/

here is a reference to Buhner's book on bartonella:

https://www.amazon.com/Healing-Lyme-Disease-Coinfections-Complementary/dp/1620550083/ref=sr_1_4/139-1305774-8202805?ie=UTF8&qid=1535125080&sr=8-4&keywords=buhner book

here is a website with some other information on Buhner's protocol:

http://buhnerhealinglyme.com/

you probably have done this, but I thought I’d mention that I photographically documenting the rashes may be of great benefit in future medical consultations.

best of luck...

Did anyone's streaks turn brownish after the red phase was over? (and stay brownish for a long time and/or came and went, until finally fading after a couple of years...) thanks.
