It tends to raise nitric oxide and the relaxation of blood vessels which might not be beneficial. It can however benefit inflammatory cytokines in response to lipopolysaccharides. The high level of nitric oxide are a response to the high levels of inflammation and an attempt to repair the damage by inflammation to blood vessels. That could be the reason for the high nitric oxide in ME.

nitric oxide
A vegan diet naturally supports higher levels of nitric oxide (NO) in the body. Many plant-based foods are rich in nitrates and other compounds that the body converts into NO—a signaling molecule that relaxes blood vessels, improves circulation, and promotes cardiovascular health. Leafy greens such as spinach, arugula, kale, chard, and lettuce are particularly effective sources - but not for everybody.

Emerging research suggests that nitric oxide may also help regulate blood clotting by inhibiting von Willebrand factor (VWF)-mediated platelet activation and secretion. Elevated VWF levels are generally linked to a higher risk of thrombosis (blood clots) and are considered unfavorable in cardiovascular health, even though VWF is essential for normal clotting. Excessive VWF activity has been associated with conditions such as venous thromboembolism and other cardiovascular disorders.

Despite this, nitric oxide levels—and related markers such as VWF—are rarely evaluated in individuals with ME, even though they may have important clinical relevance in this population.

This one really hurt my stomach when taking it, was pretty awful. I then felt truly rotten for having taken it for several days after. It didn't do a thing for my fatigue, just made me very ill. Its odd I don't usually respond to supplements/drugs at all unlike a lot of ME/CFS patients but this one is a big no for me.

cinnamon is a heating food, fyi

(as are a number of foods I want to consume right now!). Lots of things we consume every single day are heating.

I sometimes revolt entirely on the food drama. Why? I feel we can't win this. Geographies also impose their local diet onto others. Of course the Tibetan wind diet, never recommends do not eat the Barley.

I could not survive on the food list called Cooling or Neutral Foods.

But we can also have other imbalances, besides being overheated. We can have WIND and we can have DAMPNESS: both are also common in the ME category.

Bitter Greens are great for cooling. But they produce alot of WIND, so I avoid them. My joints got alot better when I stopped eating salads

Excuse me, I am going to check on this watermelon in my refrigerator: the only cooling food I currently possess.

I honestly don't know why it initially helped, I just decided to use it on my breakfast one day and noticed it kept my energy cognitively up better by some mechanism I'll never know.

I'll read more into looking at food in that format of warming/cooling/neutral but what stands in my way the most these days is seriously just money. I'm also locked into what I currently eat because I simply don't have the money to eat as healthy and diverse of a diet as I want to. I'm forced into more periods of fasting to manage things and need to lean into things from that angle. The grocery store has plenty variety but the prices keep going up every time I turn my head away. I'm not gonna turn this into a rant but I am getting really sick of living here because of the resource and economic situation country wide and quite literally. I can't even find cheap bulk rice that's not tainted with enriched ingredients so I'm forced to bulk buy more expensive plain basmati online that's also probably gonna hot a shortage soon. Coffee? Forget it now, it's a single bulk cheaper brand I find on Amazon I like, praying Aldi's coffee doesn't sky rocket, or nothing. No idea what to do.

And you know what good thing I don't eat land meat cause the situation there is even worse. Another family member had a pack of beef in the fridge, just a standard cut a little over a pound. Price tag? $15. What? I was just in shock trying to make sense of what I was seeing but no it's that bad in some areas now.

This is so true, Dysfunkion. I remember finding out that some people in Haiti are so poor they have to eat cakes made out of some kind of dirt, and I have all this food to chose from, I try to chose wisely, I cook my own food, and I can't get by without so many herbals and supplements. We used to go to the shopping mall, and I would see people in the little restaurants eating ice cream sundaes and I would wonder how they could get up and walk away and be okay. It's a situation that other people can not understand.

Ugh, lots more to talk about, Mary, so true about the fatigue. I'm too tired, though. Good night, praying no one has insomnia.

PS: I flossed!

Yeah I try to be grateful anyways the choices are still there. I have heard about that, how do they even digest that though? Like it's clay? Does it even have any calories or carbs they can use? I'd imagine it's kind of like a brand of hardtack though.

Oh I wish I could eat ice cream more often again, every time I pass Coldstone or some place similar I get nostalgic. The other month I did have a little in a restaurant with some family and it didn't make me feel so hot after. So I can at least eat it but in very small quantities and rarely. I'd probably need to "get ready" for an actual trip to the ice cream place for like a week out. lol

Yeah I typed enough today already and it's only the morning, just had a lot to say in the past few days with so much weirdness in my situation suddenly popping up. You too! Slept alright last night but took a while to fall asleep.
