the last six months i took cannabis drops (THC and CBD 1:1) at a stable dose of 10 drops per night (after titrating up) for sleep, none during the day and i don't smoke either. at first they helped a lot and they still do help but i wanna go back to natural sleep if at all possible.

i tried cold turkey but that was a bad idea, had a terrible night after half of which i caved and took maybe like 4 drops. yesterday i took only 8 drops before bed and while i slept ok today i feel groggy, off and irritable.

i get that those are probably just regular withdrawal symptoms but i wanted to ask if any of you have first hand experience with weaning off cannabis (especially for sleep) and what i can do to make it easier? i read a couple of articles about it but none seemed overly helpful...

I don't know about weaning off, but yesterday I read an article saying that THC inhibits mitochondrial function, including memory, so I'm wondering how much weight that is as evidence that ME is not due to mitochondrial dysfunction. If ME was, then THC should make ME symptoms worse in a dose-dependent manner. There must be other chemicals that affect mitochondrial function but don't show a dose-dependent effect on ME symptoms.

Don't know if my anecdote helps in your situation, but for me, a vipassana 10-day retreat 30 years ago killed my weed habit cold turkey. Never again. Meditation is a tool to experience psychedelic effects - especially being content in the present - what is possible with cannabis products otherwise. Ironically, I considered the sleepiness with cannabis products rather a bad side effect, then.

Meditation can make one sleepy, too, after some hours. But the opposite can happen, and it could turn too energizing. However, in this case, the worry of lack of sleep is cut off. Which does help to get some regeneration in deep states of mind without enough hours of sleep.

and took maybe like 4 drops. yesterday i took only 8 drops before bed and while i slept ok today i feel groggy, off and irritable.

I think too, weaning off slowly is the first step for you to take.

i was also trying it because it can shift the microglia into the normal state (or inhibit the active state, forgot which one)
