The length of treatmment is long i think because the viruses involved have a long life expectancy and antivirals work by stopping them replicate, so its a matter of waiting for these viruses to die out. Also i think it can take awhile for your immune system to heal before it can take over and supress these viruses.
I have been on famvir for 3 years approx and the valcyte for only 8 weeks, so far all my liver and kidney function tests have been fine. I also think antioxidants like NAC and lipoic acid which are known to help protect the liver have helped me alot with this.
Mito supps u can find under my thread the shot gun approach. But i didnt get alot out of these supps until i had all these viruses sorted etc. I think lots of antioxidants can help with reducing the amount of damage we go through with this illness and these supps do have a cross over with mito supps. A few studies showing cfs have alot of oxidative stress going on as well as studies showing we have low carnitine levels and q10 levels, so they would be good supps to take as well as the common antioxidants vit c/e.
There is an online pharmacy that sells famvir well priced, let me know if u want details to this.
i hope this has helped.
cheers!!!
