The BBC World Service Newshour programme interviewed Simon Wessely last night about the recently-departed psychiatrist Robert Spitzer, and made some comments towards the end that reveal some of his own views, for example that the DSM has become a monster, over-medicalising normality. Perhaps this is related to his own views that psychiatric illness is being misdiagnosed as physical illness. (Many of us here consider the opposite to be the case.)
At about 4.23 he says "we should always be about an intertwining of biology, of psychology, of sociology..." which he seems to be attributing to Spitzer.
