Hey, I was looking at the current issue of Fine Homebuilding magazine. They put out an annual issue on Houses that is like candy for those people who are interested in home building.

In this year's issue on Houses is a house that was built for a person with MCS. It has a lot of interesting home building ideas in it. I wouldn't use wood, personally, but there are other interesting ideas. I'm so glad to see that this issue is getting some exposure in the building community!

There is also an article in the magazine about resources for learning about building science. Those are books on how to prevent mold from happening in the first place, among other things. I think I will need to read some of those books.

You can get a taste of the article on building a healthy house here:
http://www.finehomebuilding.com/design/articles/building-a-healthy-house.aspx?ac=ts&ra=fp
But you have to buy the magazine to read the whole thing, apparently.

It looks like the article on building science is all online:

Cool!

SickofSickness, there are tons of ways to build a house without wood. And it is more environmentally friendly, too. You can use steel framing, yes, or insulated concrete forms, or Thermasteel panels, or old-fashioned concrete block. or ultra-modern modular building packages. I put a bunch of links on my website, http://web.me.com/moldfreehomeideas/Index/List_of_Links.html

My website is about to go away, and it needs updating anyway. So I plan to post it as a blog entry here in the next couple of weeks. It will be a new, improved version!

Oops, I forgot to say that I think you could build a house without wood in the framing without breaking the bank.

And it looks like the annual issue on Houses is a special issue, not the latest issue of Fine Homebuilding. But it comes out in the spring, so it is on newsstands now. Okay, I sound like an ad now, so I'll stop!
