I'm quite regular, so I don't think including BM frequency (or timing or other details) in my daily ME journal would be helpful for me, but maybe it would be worthwhile for some other people. Sadly, BM frequency or timing isn't that easy to control, so reaching that optimum point isn't simple. Maybe the data could be used to predict that your PEM trigger threshold might be lower after irregularities.

There are also complications. Some people can't simply add fibre to attain that optimum point, due to comorbid disorders, and medications needed for those.

Another thought: what some experts claim is optimal (for some subset of the population) isn't necessarily good for PWME or other diseases. Diarrhea isn't "optimal", but sometimes a good flushing out can be beneficial. Food poisoning fixed two serious ME-related problems I had. I didn't have any benefits from constipation, but maybe that would be helpful for some people.

Who is going to tell them its FAR more complicated than all that.

I'm wiped out having had my digestion tank. I had made considerable progress, but now there is a relapse.

The Goldilocks Zone is wonderful. I'm there all the time. My digestion got messed up for unknown reasons about a week ago and got even worse yesterday.

I'm optimistic I can make some corrections (SIBO related). But meanwhile, no corrections are going to happen as I"m in a big PEM crash.

If I experience any form of bowel anomaly: I"m crashed badly afterwards.

Those unknown reasons are so mysterious. Why did I suddenly--with no obvious cause--become intolerant of fermentable fibre? Solved by a probiotic capsule, so I likely lost a bacterial strain, but why? That was followed some months later by suddenly becoming intolerant of something involved with germination (thus seeds, tubers, etc). Why? That was solved by one meal containing squash. Why??? So mysterious.

It might be just a tube running though us, but boy is it complicated.

My digestion moves too rapidly. Hence, slowing it down proved beneficial. (by a few hours). (so constipated, for me, is being delayed a few hours). I would have described myself as an IBS-D person although I really don't experience D very often at all.

However, that is where I've now got this tricky situation because the ellagic acid pill, which helped to knock out the SIBO it seems, works too well. Too much water gets pulled out.

My BP pill can entirely shut down my digestion due to something about Potassium. This happen the first time I took it only; and then the next time when I increased the dose.
