Could anyone signpost any useful papers they have seen on the long-term effects of childhood trauma? I mean physical, rather than psychological effects.
The psychological effects are physical.
It affects the development of the brain, the connections made and reinforced during the brain's construction are not "normal" - they are formed by the experience the child has, which is NOT that of a normal child who is loved unconditionally.
I'm sorry, I don't know of any papers on the subject.
I absolutely understand the pysch effects are physical, I've lived with them for a long time. I'm just after some stuff I saw someone reference on the endocrine effects over the long term.
I'd start with Jason's papers and the references in them. Sorry, too tired to read his introduction and find more papers for you tonight. If you can't find the full text online, it's likely you can get a copy simply by writing the author. Other person who might be able to offer advice: http://eleanorsteinmd.ca/
it's not clear from the titles, but these papers say such abuse is a risk factor for a wide variety of diseases including general chronic fatigue, but Jason did not find it to be a risk for Fukuda-CFS.
