You personnaly know them and confirm? LOL . How can I know you are not lying either....
You can't and it doesn't matter very much. But if at least 4 members on a message board with many posts say something it's more credible than what one member with little posts who hasn't met the man in person says.

You come here and question people's honesty and say things about someone else (Dr. De Meirleir) that are illegal or close to it in many countries (calling someone names and say he treats patients like s*). What's your goal? If you don't like Dr. De Meirleir, don't go to see him. If you want to protect other patients from him, fine, but then post evidence and not insults and hearsay.

Wow I might go to jail :)
I'm saying illegal stuff...

You know freedom of speech? It allows you to say whatever you want (even if it's stupid). Ah America is a beautiful country. But maybe you live in a dictatorian country where you dont have such rights? poor you :(

MOD: Freedom of speech does not allow you to violate our forum rules, this is a warning, your posts have violated the 'no dumping' rule, plus it is offensive to many forum members. The problem is not with your opinion, you are welcome to express any view here, but rather with the rudeness of the posting. Read the rules if you are confused about this. There is a button on the menu at the top of every screen for forum rules.

You will not go to jail for that, but it's actually not so much "lol". I know pretty well about freedom of speech. There's also freedom of action, but does that mean you can go and kill somebody? No... All those freedoms are limited by the law. Calling people an asshole or saying they treat their "clients" like s* is a criminal offense where i live. Unless you can prove what you say is true. I guess that might be a bit difficult at least for your first statement ;-) Probably in the USA it's similar, even though they have less restrictions on the freedom of speech.

This forum and individual countries each have their own rules or laws. The very first rule for members of this forum (which you agreed to when you joined) is: RULES:

1. While we honor passionate and informed discussion we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Personal attacks include: Attacking someone's character.

Hi, I have met KDM, have exchanged emails with him, and know others who have met him. I was at the 1999 CFS conference in Sydney. So was KDM. This is a matter of public record.

I talked with Kenny - he stuck me as kind and understanding, and seriously earnest about finding treatments. Is he perfect? Who is? He is one of a very few doctors who have been pursuing both treatment and research for a long time, and I have great respect for any doctor who does this.

Every other person I have met who has talked with Kenny likes him. Some do have problems with his outspoken views, but I think we need outspoken doctors - I wish more were like Kenny, not fewer.

Bye
Alex

PS One patient under KDM I know a bit about is responding very well indeed. My support of KDM is about results as well.

excited to hear the news that he's going to be in Australia at end of month. Now I just got to think about how I got to go about getting to see him.. if he's seeing patients while here?

I read many such statements. From his office in Bruxel. Most of the statements I read were in French. There are a lot of them... strangely too many.

I think unless you actually know the people the messages came from.. you should take care what you believe. There are many out there who want good ME/CFS doctors to look bad. You shouldnt believe things coming from complete strangers.

Ive never been one of his patients as I havent had that opportunity but I have been to one of his lectures one time and he did seem caring.

I think Slander is can be a criminal offence in basically all countries. I know it is in Australia where I are and we certainly arent a dictatorian country here but rather free to say what we want.

In case you dont know what slander is.. it is when you make up something about someone and go around spreading it. This is a crime when the lies told (even if you heard from another.. it is still you who is spreading it without vertifying the truth) impact on another persons reputation and does harm in any way.
........

thanks kurt. I found jeffy's post highly offensive

Tania, the conference is being hosted by ME/CFS Australia (Vic, Tas, NT) in partnership with GPVictoria and CFS DISCOVERY, so one of them may be able to assist with your inquiry if you contacted them. They haven't put out any other info for his visit.

Tania, Tulip is right - Dr Lewis's office should be able to tell you if you can see KDM. You might need to be a patient of Dr Lewis's though to do it. The only thing is, it is an expensive exercise - I think you would be expected to pay between $2000-$3000 for tests. If you contact them you should ask for an estimate of all the costs you might be up for so you know before you go in. He seems to come here quite regularly now, so even if you miss him this time, you could see him next time.

I have seen him a number of times, but have not been awfully responsive to treatment maybe because I haven't followed it properly. I had a very bad reaction to nexavir prior to seeing him, which has made me very shy of new treatments. I have also done a number of his antibiotic protocols with some success before he arrived.

I found him very nice to speak to on a personal level and he will answer a lot of questions in a short time. I think deep down I have trouble believing in the whole gut/food intolerance causation theory which he is very focussed on, which is why I am a bit reticent though antibiotics have helped me.

thank youmegan.. Im not a patient of Dr Lewis as I already do have a ME/CFS specialist who could work with Dr Meirleir if Dr Meireir will work with him.

If I have to I probably could borrow money from my nanna to get more tests done.. Ive already had a ton of tests done throu my own specialist thou Im sure Dr Meireir recommends others too.

Does Dr Kenny Meirleir have an office one could contact to find out if I could see him? with my own CFS specialist backing me up???

If i did have to go throu Dr Lewis.. does anyone know what waiting period Dr Lewis has to get an appointment there? and whether seeing Dr Lewis would be covered by our aussie medical coverage? (with my current ME/CFS specialist medicare etc covers the costs except if I want a test which isnt covered ).

and can anyone tell me what tests outside of the ordinary ones.. would probably be ordered if i saw Dr lewis and Dr Meirleir?
