PH Balancing

Hi,

So I feel one of the missing pieces is balancing my PH. My urine PH is too alkaline (over 8)
I have kidney and ammonia issues... But my stomach acid is too low. Because of my various intolerances, the only thing I can take to correct the low HCL is celery juice and RNA Nucleotides.

I've been reading that taking 1/2 t of baking soda and 1/2 t of Himalyan salt 2x per day will bring the PH to normal levels. I can also take a product called PH hour salts. It has sodium , potassium, calcium bi/carbonates.

I fear that the baking soda will alkalinize my stomach even more and create more problems. I may just leave it alone for now and alkalinize via fruits and veggies. I know my body and I need to do this. Years of sugar addiction, too much meat, SAD diet etc.

What do you think?

Baking soda, esp 1/2 tspn, isn't just problematic, it tastes vile. Vile enough to possibly make you hurl. I'm not familiar with PH Hour salts, but so long as it doesn't have a lot of other additives (most electrolyte products do), it should be a much better option.

It'll screw with your digestion in oh so many, multiple ways. Do a quick Google. Also, if you decide to go this route (and I'd suggest starting with 1/8th tspn and move up gradually from there), get a clean version of baking soda, not the stuff sold by Arm & Hammer, which has numerous unpleasant things in it. Bob's Red Mill used to sell a great one, cheap-ish.

I've found that my first thing in the AM mix of potassium gluconate pwder, with a few other things I throw in for my own reactivity issues, works really well to rebalance acidity safely.

actually the Ph hour salts has calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate and potassium bicarbonate, so it has baking soda in it. I just muscle tested myself and my body doesn't want it. I think I will stick to what I have been doing which is Quintron Water , barley grass, yucca, vitamin c and calcium d glucarate. Thanks for your help!

What unpleasant things? A quick check shows that it's 100% sodium bicarbonate. I expect that the 'mined in its natural state' version would be more likely to contain contaminants.
Yeah. And 'salt' is 100% salt. It isn't til you find out how it's chemically treated for anti-clumping, moisture resistance, etc that you begin to think that maybe sea salt, with all its potential 'other stuff' may be the better choice.

It might actually do the opposite, depending on the dosage and administration frequency. Baking soda will temporarily increase alkalinity in the stomach, which will then promote your stomach to produce more acid through feedback loops to counteract the alkalinity. So you may actually end up with more stomach acid a few hours after taking baking soda. A study also found that administration of baking soda damped inflammation in autoimmune disease.

Yet my urine is way to alkaline already due to kidney/ammonia issues. So for me alkalinizing in such a way (with baking soda) I don't think would be prudent.

I checked deeper, and the product disclosure says only sodium bicarbonate. Maybe it doesn't require additions for anti-clumping or whatever. Unless you can provide evidence to the contrary, I have to assume that Arm&Hammer brand baking soda is pure sodium bicarbonate. Not that I buy it, but I do object to outright false claims about products.

And salt doesn't list the endless chemical processing that it goes thru before landing on your table, sooooooo ....... assume away. It's your body, your right.

But you're treading on thin ice by calling me out on ".....outright false claims". That's calling me a liar. This site doesn't smile on that.
