News last night about breast implants and rare cancer

have been concerned about my breast implants since my illness started years ago. So one would think that might be enough to have them removed but it didn't. I discussed it with my doctor and the plastic surgeon who put them in and neither thought I should worry about it. I also have saline not silicone.
I had to rethink this again after I got my test results from realtime labs that I tested positive for the 4 molds they test for and 3 were high.
My fear was the implants could have mold in them., but they would have to have leaks and that doesn't seem an issue. More likely my mold exposure has been from molds in my homes.
I had taken out my research I did on who you want to have take them out "properly' if you have such problems yesterday then on the news the same night they discussed how there is a rare cancer that may not be so rare now due to breast implants ( they didn't say if they were saline or silicone but its the textured implants that have the problem). I don't know if mine were textured, waiting to hear back from doctor.
I kick myself so much for doing this but I was so thin and I really wanted to just to have a bit of a figure, no one would ever believe I even have them since they are so modest. Now I have to pray that modest attempt of feeling more feminine could have serious reproductions. if I can afford it I plan on having them removed. I also think its worth seeing if I can get a tissue and muscle biopsy done while they have me under.
If you haven't seen the "bleeding edge" I highly recommend it. Its on Netflix. goes into how little proper testing and medical research is done on implants. they focus on hip implants, sterilization implants and the robot surgeon. So important for people to know how vulnerable we are under the knife and what we can and should do to protect ourselves and our friends and family.
if I am able to get them removed and anything show up I will share the results.

I too worried about my health and implants. I had mine taken out about 5 years ago and honestly feel no difference health wise. I really like the feel of not having them anymore and surprised that I feel like I look better without them. The procedure was very easy and heal time was pretty easy as well. I opted for local anesthesia because I was scared of going under completely.
I wonder if they did any damage to my health too.

I read about this, as a close relative had an implant as part of her reconstruction after breast cancer surgery. It remains a rare phenomenon, and the cancer does respond well to treatment if it's recognised in good time, but it's still worrying. In the UK, the reporting has stressed that in order to mitigate the risk, the 'capsule' that forms around each implant must be removed too.

It turned out that my relative's implant, which is small because it was only to fill out one side of her breast after a lumpectomy, isn't one of the textured ones. If yours are small too, @humanrising, you may find that they didn't need to use textured ones in order to stop them moving around. I hope so!

That is interesting and I had severe toxic mold exposure (as you know ;)) along with two other family members and my (urine) tests from realtime labs were negative but theirs were positive. The mold doctor that we saw said that this was very common in someone who was as sick as I was b/c my family members were healthy enough to detox the mold out of their body (to show up on the test) but I was not able to detox it so it was stuck in my body. I was allergic to everything at that time but was able to do a mold detox with nebulized glutathione and very mild binders like oats and apple pectin.

My fear was the implants could have mold in them., but they would have to have leaks and that doesn't seem an issue. More likely my mold exposure has been from molds in my homes.

Did I ever PM you the info on mold testing that you had asked me for?! Several people on PR asked me at the same time and I know I sent you the info re: my mold doctor but can't remember if I sent you the rest? Will you let me know if you still need it b/c I went through my folders and have it accessible now.

then on the news the same night they discussed how there is a rare cancer that may not be so rare now due to breast implants

Do you mean the actual implants cause the cancer?

If you haven't seen the "bleeding edge" I highly recommend it. Its on Netflix.

I actually did watch it on Netflix a few months ago and was horrified (but not surprised).

if I am able to get them removed and anything show up I will share the results.

Yes, please keep us posted.

I got the info from my doctor and they were not the textured ones and the receptionist doesn't believe that mold is in the saline ones...… which would make sense since salt and mold are not friends.
I know that it is probably my house/past houses not my implants but with autoimmunity yadyada it is probably not the best thing to have when you have this type of chronic illness.

I am going to the surgeon to discuss it with him. not the greatest guy. when I had the consult about them he said, " now you will be a complete woman". so wish we could have recordings of all the dumb bleep de bleep things that doc's say to us.
on the news they said that they have looked at this world wide and its not low numbers of women getting this cancer. they gave a truly wide range of stats, the lowest being 1 in 1000 hut since it was so all over the place in terms of numbers I don't know how accurate the news was. have to look it up I suppose. part of the news piece was about the needing better tighter controls over implants of all kinds since there is so much money in it and little oversight. I think the Netflix doc and all the advocacy the women on it did helped this along.
ginger, thank you again. I think I am going to first do the ermi testing and see what that looks like. since you know so much I might bother you for advice once I get the info.... if you don't mind.

I don't mind at all and always reply to PM's even though it sometimes takes me a while to catch up! Best wishes with your mold testing.
