Cleveland Clinic researchers have uncovered how COVID-19 infection triggers severe inflammation, leading to long-term bone pain and bone loss. This research provides critical insights into the estimated 18 million individuals living with “COVID bone pain” worldwide.

The JCI Insight study also reveals why individuals living with inflammatory autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, report higher levels of bone pain after contracting COVID-19. The virus-induced inflammation disproportionately affects individuals with preexisting inflammatory autoimmune conditions, amplifying the severity of bone-related symptoms.

How are rheumatoid arthritis, long COVID and bone pain connected?

I've had a history of back problems that were manageable (for the most part) but after Covid this past summer my spine just crumbled. I've never before experienced back pain like I have now. I had a loss of discs too. Discs in my lower back are almost gone.:( In fact I'd go as far as to say my back issues are now more of a disability than my CFS/ME.

Tammy, I am so sorry to hear about the problems COVID caused you! I wish I could help. The only thing I've read about spinal problems is that silicea is important in at least some cases.

This is what homeopathic Materia Medica says about silicea with respect to the back.

Back.--Weak spine; very susceptible to draughts on back. Pain in coccyx. Spinal irritation after injuries to spine; diseases of bones of spine. Potts' disease.

I will look for a reason that COVID could cause issues related to silicea.

Thanks Violeta. I'm taking Orgono Silica. (more than what the bottle recommends). Hopefully I can at least maintain or perhaps even build up some bone with this supplement.
