Fucoidans are a class of long chain sulfated polysaccharides and have multiple biological functions. Herein, four natural fucoidans extracted from Fucus vesiculosus, F. serratus, Laminaria japonica and Undaria pinnatifida

  • Fucoidan targets viral spike and host furin to block coronaviral entry.

  • Fucoidan inhibits viral entry and infection of HCoV-OC43 in vitro.

  • Fucoidan inhibits viral entry and infection of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro.

  • Fucoidan effectively inhibits infection by SARS-CoV-2 in vivo.
