Massive crash and feeling overwhelmed by what life is throwing at me

Last Friday, I ended up in A&E with pain in my side and abdomen. The doctors think it was a kidney stone. I went back home, but started vomiting and having severe diarrhea. Diarrhea went on for a week, multiple times a day, and led to a massive crash.

Now bedbound and in agony with muscle pain. I realised I needed to rest and recover from the crash. Still waiting to get a scan over kidney stones, but have had no more abdominal pain. Still trying to get as much rest as I can, but this has been the most debilitating crash I have ever had. A friend comes over when they can to help me out and cook me a meal, as I am struggling to get out of bed.

As if that is not enough, the housing association wants access to my flat to fit a new kitchen, and I know I am not going to be able to cope with this.

I don't know what to do anymore and feel overwhelmed at the moment. The noise and disruption from fitting the new kitchen is going to be overwhelming at the moment. I just feel like crying!

Thats really sad Tina,
i pray for you 🙏.

I can really recommend such passive noise "canceling" headphones, thats what construction workers wear, they are massive. i have one of those. really nice. when i am vacuuming or something is really bad this helps a lot.
with the small active noise canceling earpieces like with apples i cannot use those, 30 minutes of wearing and i feel dizzy for the rest of the day.

like this (i just grabed those randomly, no clue if that product is good)
https://www.amazon.de/3M-Peltor-Optime-Kapselgehörschutz-schwarz-rot/dp/B000VDX18E

mine have bluetooth speaker functionality, so i have noise reduction and the option to have music or so play even more canceling the noise.

if it is towards the hip (like where you can feel the hip bone on the side but on your stomach side not the outside, if that makes sense) it could be the psoas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psoas_major_muscle), i was in the hospital for that once (excruciating pain) but the doctors didn't know what to do with me and couldn't find anything wrong either. i didn't know about the psoas back then...

i don't know about the vomiting though

I feel your pain! In a similar boat with life in general throwing so much at me all at once with so much stressful uncertainty. Maintenance people coming over is something I prepare a week ahead for. Uncertain pain is always the worse with this too because it's always a "oh no what is my body doing NOW?" problem. Every time I experience the slightest ache or pain I tend to spiral a bit because it's all already too much going on in life at a time. You know the drill, rest and comfort to the max for what the situation will allow!

How difficult! I assume they know you are disabled. But maybe they don't? How are you expected to eat during this kitchen install?

If you can get through it, you'll have a new kitchen, which sounds really nice.

Meanwhile I hope the horrible pain is behind you and that you can rest and recover.

Hi, @tinacarroll27

I really feel for you!

I have experienced something similar once or twice in the past decade, where a new and acute heal issue pops up that must be attended to. Then, while dealing with the work up and crash and downward physical spiral, life tosses us something equally disruptive.

I really feel for you and I hope and pray this will all be over as quickly as possible so you can rest, rest, rest, rest and get back your baseline.

That is excellent advice. Back when I lived in an apartment, the landlord was installing mini split A/C in all the units, and I locked myself and my cat in the bedroom. I stayed in those headphones all of the time they were there, making a terrific racket. The headphones really helped.

Thank you all for the good wishes. I have contacted the housing association, and I think I have a solution. The housing association has said I don't need to be present, and I can leave the key with the contractors. I will stay with a friend who has a spare room and lives in a quiet house, so I can rest.

My friend lives in the same town, so it does mean a car journey, which will not be easy for me, and I hope I don't crash worse, but I can have lots of peaceful rest once I get there.

I am relieved, and I am glad I don't have to put up with the noise and disruption. Thanks again for your support.
