Is there an optimal Folate range?

I had my serum folate levels tested a couple of months back, and my results are “normal”, but looking at where my folate levels land, I can see it’s only located halfway on the reference range. I take 800mcg daily of methylfolate, and the fact I have MTHFR A/G as well, I’m just wondering if there’s anything I could be doing to improve this (if anything needs to be improved at all).

I don't know what my folate levels are, but I need a lot. I found that taking them sublingually, instead of swallowing the tabs, seems to enhance absorption. Are you taking other things to balance the folate, like B12, B's etc? I've created a guide to Freddd's protocol, in my signature. You might get some help looking through it. good luck.

Hey, thanks for the reply. May I ask how you came to that conclusion?

Yes, I take my B vitamins as well as B12 injections in the form of hydroxocobalamin. I also see that you have VDR TAQ? I also have that (VDR TAQ +/+). Have you found a way the better this SNP?

Thanks.

During the days I was proceeding with Freddd's protocol, I had superficial symptoms that helped me understand what was happening. When I needed folate, my face would break out in small pimples. When I increased the folate, they disappeared. Once I got to the level that worked for me, it was several years before it happened again, I increased to my current levels, and was fine.

Whatever I knew about my snps has gone from my mind. And I don't know that I ever followed up anything re VDR TAQ, doesn't ring a bell.
