Iron and ferritin

Does anyone have any experience with low ferritin and high iron? It’s a situation I’ve long been in and my functional medicine dr wanted to put me on IV iron for it but that didn’t sound right. Thank god I did not after more research years later.

Now my daughter is dealing with this same issue and basically not many suggestions coming from drs right now except to recheck in 4 weeks which….. is obviously futile.

Would love to hear on why this occurs and how I can help her (and me).

I wonder how your Dr can diagnose high iron with low ferritin....

Low ferritin is supposed to be a reliable marker of low iron store, isn't it?

Ferritin is iron storage and then the iron saturation is showing her body is overloaded with iron. So her body isn’t properly utilizing it. And same with mine.

I know there is a whole thing on this but can’t find it. I can’t remember where I found the reason behind this years ago and of course, drs aren’t being very helpful atm about why this is occurring in her.
