Taymount Clinic in the UK for fecal transplants:
(Suddenly I wish I lived in the UK)
The Good:
They offer pre-tested fecal transplants, from healthy people who have been eating diets with prebiotics in order to boost the levels of good bacteria
No doctor referral required. The clinic has a gastroenterologist on staff. ( ! No required other doctor to write a little note just so people can try a treatment ! )
Patients do not have to have c. difficile to be considered for this treatment - the clinic will apply this treatment to other patients with a broad range of conditions. For example, post-antibiotic Dysbiosis, or food intolerance. I think those two conditions are fairly common amongst people here on phx rising.
I think it's the only clinic of its kind in the northern hemisphere (there's one in southern part of the world, but is more restrictive than this one is)
The not so Good:
Well, there are stories scattered across the Internet about people who pay money for fecal transplants (from any clinic they can find), and only get temporary gut improvement. So, a risk is that it doesn't work.
Sigh, I still wish I could get to the UK to try this.
