I figured out how to prevent PEM caused by using public transport

Hi
Ever since I got CFS, I became intolerant to using any kind of public transportation (cabs, buses, subway etc). A 5 minute car ride would crash me for at least 2 days, 30-minute ride would crash me for a week. Recently I figured out how to fix it. It's dimenhydrinate. I take 100 mg of it 30 minutes before every trip, and I either don't crash at all, or I crash mildly for 1 day maximum. It's a really big deal for me, when it comes to my quality of life. Hope it helps someone.

Does diphenhydramine do the same thing for you alone? 8-Chlorotheophylline I can't find much information on at all nor can I same to find it as a supplement.

Wikipedia says:

Oh so they're closely related if I'm reading into that correctly? I remember trying dramamine before many years ago when I was told to take it for motion sickness on a boat and had a horrible reaction though so this is definitely off the table for me anyhow. Glad it works for ilivewithcfs though, wonder what the mechanism can be on how it does.

dimenhydrinate is anti-cholinergic so some people might want to be careful about that. since I improve on choline supplements, for example I would stay 10 miles away from this stuff.

as always: this disease is random as fuck and there isnt a one-type fits all solution and i am very happy that it helps you and potentially others. :)

cheers

This disease is definitely random as fuck. I reacted horribly to choline. In my particular case it was the worst supplement I've ever tried. Maybe that's why I react so well to dimenhydrinate.
I hate CFS. It's so unpredictable. I'm glad you are doing well on choline.

it has always been confusing to me that lots of us get contradictionary results with stuff like this. makes it even more difficult.

as always, we are just labrats on our own trial.

Truly, things can change in the blink of an eye. I have a feeling it may have something to do with anti-receptor antibodies or something similar going on which can shift due to an infinite number of regulatory factors. It's like the weather in new england here, just wait 10 minutes and it'll change! Once you get to any stable ground with this you gotta fight for it king of the hill style too! Gets very obnoxious when you have no idea how to plan every week cause you have no idea how you're gonna feel and in what ways. My coworker today asked me what I'm going to do tomorrow cause we have a day off and I simply had no clue, it's whatever my body dictates is allowed that day. I have no idea how I'll feel later, everything is just a big shoulder shrug. lol

Choline when I last supplemented and every time I did made me extremely tired and out of it though. I've never been able to get any stimulation out of it, just a warm headed uncomfortable drowsy state that lasts well into the next day. Considering that and the fact that what I found really amps up the brain burning symptom that's one of my central issues when things get out of hand is soy sauce or anything that's enriched (much worse and comes on much faster) like enriched flour or rice, that stuff is just evil. I suspect I'm having issues breaking down either glutamate, histamine, or both. When that reaction is riding high I can't seem to get any stimulation out of anything either so a bunch of mediators are probably blocking a bunch of crucial processes and they can feed into loops if they get too out of hand. I'm not trying choline again though, it's clearly too volatile for me anyways.
