How studies with trivial motions waste urgently needed resources

Maybe I see this wrong but can anyone explain me why money has to be used on such trivial studies as:

Epilepsy-Linked Memory Losss Worries More Patients Than Doctors
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/03/110308172944.htm

The patient is the one who gets affected by the memory loss. Is it surprising that he is more concerned about it than his doctor?

Negative Classroom Environment Adversely Affects Children's Mental Health
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/03/110309073717.htm

Honestly, who would think that a negative environment has positive impacts on children?

Neurologists Predict More Cases of Stroke, Dementia, Parkinson's Disease and Epilepsy
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/01/110125091832.htm

We all know that people live longer and we all know that that diseases are more prevalent in old people. It doesn't take a genius in order to draw the conclusion that because of this we will have more cases with disease.

These studies are all from today btw.

To be fair - the epilepsy one looked cheap and worthwhile.

If doctors treating an illness don't understand what it is patients want help with, then they'll be less effective that they could be.

No matter, that is money that could probably be used more wisely! Perhaps more ME/CFS research? Instead of about $1 for every sufferer in the US!
