I am looking for a specialist in Colorado for my daughter who appears to have a pretty serious case of CFS. I am having a heck of a time finding anyone who really knows their stuff. And it appears that our health insurance won't cover this??? I am new to all of this..

Is that pretty common? Any suggestions would be helpful. We are tearing our hair out with consult after consult.. No good referrals yet.

If you can't find a specialist, an alternative is to find a cooperative medical doctor or naturopathic doctor who is willing to order tests and try various treatments. You can combine that with doing your own research online, to try to come up with something helpful.

It's next to impossible to find a doctor worth anything locally. To make things worse, unknowledgeable local doctors can make your daughter's condition much worse.

We've resorted to traveling to FL (from IL) to be seen by some of the best specialists. It's not so bad since you only have to go once or twice a year and do phone appointments in between. There are some good specialists closer to you than FL, too, but it's still probably a plane ride.

I have a 20yo daughter with ME/CFS. She's been ill for 8 years. She's currently doing very well -- a senior in engineering and working 10 hrs per week, too. Feel free to PM or chat me to talk about dealing with a teenager/young adult with ME/CFS.
