"Gut support cells communicate with surprising precision – like brain neurons – using tiny extensions to send instructions to the stem cells responsible for maintaining and healing the intestine. The discovery may change our understanding of tissue repair and gut diseases."

No immediate solution for gut disease, but at least future theories won't be based on a false assumption of how the cells communicate.

ME could be based on a similar false understanding of how some cells function.

We were told the gut has as many neurons as the brain, so that always made sense to me, since my gut was often running the show.

I ordered a supplement called Stem Cell Complete. I know little or nothing about stem cells. The bottle says it helps joints. I bought it by accident and did not take it.

Then one day I took one. I took several and shortly thereafter: it corrected SIBO Issues and my digestion was transformed into something I would describe as "almost normal". WOW

I did not expect any of this to happen. But I can't take the pill often because it affects my digestion Profoundly.

It's the ellagic acid in the pill doing something. But this ellagic acid is of considerable research interest and does great things, in research studies. I want to take it more often but can't figure out how.

I can't find a webpage for a supplement with that name, can you provide a link or the manufacturers name?
I found Stemregen which is supposed to influence Stem cells and it does have some ingredients which I recognise that can be highly beneficial but at a very high price.

A quick check showed that our gut has as many neurons as a fruit bat (or ostrich or Yorkshire Terrier) brain. Impressive enough, but my gut isn't going to get a PhD any time soon. Interconnection of neurons is also important, so if they're mostly linearly connected from sensors to brain, they wouldn't be the equivalent of an actual brain.

Idea for a SF story: our guts are the actual intelligent species on our planet, communicating with each other via telepathy (or poop signals), and they're gossiping about the pets they use to move them around and feed them.
