Determining whether you are Th1 or Th2 dominant

Is it really helpful for choosing remedies, or just helpful based on someone's unproven theories? The immune system is really complex, so there's a reasonable probability that the opposite remedy approach will be helpful and the theoretical one harmful. I'm just guessing that any supporting evidence for this approach is cherry-picked anecdotal stories. Meanwhile, "Get your blood tested here. Buy it now!" (and as with 23andMe, the data will be sold)

And then the remedies one chooses would be based on the results of the blood test.
Yes, but is there any reliable evidence that choosing remedies based on the test makes a difference? I knew one naturopath who chose remedies based on a questionnaire with numeric responses, then tallied up all those numbers (making the result a scalar number), then using that number to chose remedies based on a chart. Utter nonsense. Claims that these cytokine tests lead to superior results from remedies is one thing; trustworthy evidence that the claims are true is another matter.

the th1-th2 system is helpful but a bit oversimplified.

it has been extended by th17 so there are th1 th2 th17 cells so far identified, and there seem to be even more.

it is moderatly useful. for example my IL-17 is very low. using herbs and remedies decreasing th17 (wich produce il-17) made my symptoms worse so i am very thankful to have this connection. so i am living proof that there is practical use for it.

however the th1-th2-th17 system fails to keep track of other immune cells and mechanisms since its only sorts of t-helper cells and their cytokines.

useful but not game changing.

thanks for sharing though. adding th17 is really important

I've over the months been wondering this too but like others said it's probably a lot more complex. It's probably something that is shifting all of the time especially in situations where the immune system is extremely dysregulated and highly reactive.

Like I know for example immune state fluctuations will give me the most drastic changes in symptom presentation but it's largely out of my control since this can be so random at times. I have consistent environmental reactions that I will react to every time but how they behave can be somewhat different at different times. Another thing that will happen to me often is I'll have a reaction to something and that will change the way my nervous system is functioning in a certain direction second hand to the reaction and that'll just get stuck in a loop until I have another thing that triggers a major immune shift that leads to more downstream effects.

Which branch is dominant for you and what have you taken for it.

Have you been tested for cytokines?

I'm not sure, what test would I ask for? Higher end doses of vitamin C seem to control and otherwise I don;t know what in my current supplement stack is doing what for it besides that it keeps me going. Recently got a hair cut (I don't know what is up with my body's reaction to my own hair, doesn't matter how well I take care of it.) and my whole head has felt like someone dumped icy hot on it for days now so whatever reaction that is, it suts through everything and also makes me more prone getting sinus inflammation and related brain fog and anxiety when it flares. It could be a viral reactivation that's hiding in the nerves. I actyally just ordered some L-Lysine today and I'm going to see if that does anything for the state of things.
