Cuvitru

I started Cuvitru Sub Q Igg therapy in Sept. am supposed to be doing weekly infusions of 8 grams. Side effects have been minimal, thankfully.
now i am hearing there is a "shortage" of this medication and my shipment for this month has been delayed by the specialty pharmacy I use, Accredo. Others on the Immune facebook forum are also being delayed. Some folks are still getting theirs.

I am trying to figure out if this is a Shire issue or an Accredo issue. anyone else here that uses Cuvitu having issues with getting your vials?

I can't address Cuvitru, but I had a similar experience with my IVIG: GammaGard. The pharmacy I was getting it from stopped getting it. It turns out they weren't planning ahead like some other pharmacies, that is, stocking up to be able to weather the inevitable shortages that plague production of immunoglobulin products. So I switched temporarily to a different product. Then, when I had to change pharmacies (long story) it occurred to me to ask the new pharmacy (after 3 months, I was a bit slow...) if they had GammaGard, and they did.

So, you might want to see if a different pharmacy has it available, if you have the option of switching pharmacies. Alternatively, there are other IG products you could try (HyQvia is another subQ IG for example).

thank you ! that is a great idea. I actually got lucky and my usual pharm was able to send the cuvitru, just got it today! thanks for the idea. i will tuck it away for future use.
