Can anyone explain how IVIG works ?

i contracted hsv 2 around 4 months ago , I went thru a very stressful experience shortly after I caught it and felt a burning and tingling sensation move up the back of my head and into the top . That night the burning and tingling moved down my right arm and right leg .

Since than I have been having back pain , trouble swallowing , weight loss , burning sensation in right arm and right foot , GI issues , weakness, squeezing feeling in deltoid muscles , burning and redness in eyes burning feeling in face , voice issues from time to time , muscle fasiculations, fatigue , liver area pain , vision issues and migraines (get much worse if I eat nightshade vegatbles ) and severe histamine intolerance along with bad acid reflux .

I am not making hsv 2 antibodies yet, and the girl I caught it from doesn't make them either but had a positive swab on blister 8 years prior .
I'm wondering if I caught a very aggressive strain that has evaded my immune system and made a home in my brain .

I'm currently being tested for hsv 2 in my blood stream by PCR DNA , I mentioned to the doctor that because of my neuropathy type symptoms and the fact that I'm not making antibodies could I be a candidate for IVIG and he said yes .

How does IVIG work ? If I'm not making antibodies I would I assume it would give me the antibodies I need to fight this off but the inflammatory effect of those antibodies could make me substantially worse given the location of the virus (brain). I'm also concerned about the histamine response my body will have to the IVIG . When I eat foods high in histamine my symptoms get substantially worse and I get rashes on my body . It seems my body's poor ability to clear histamines allows them to have a very immunosuppressive effect . Can anyone explain how IVIG works and would it be beneficial in my situation ?

I've lose 13 pounds going from 140 to 127 in the past 3 months( and I'm 6 ft tall) and I'm very scared of what's happening to me . I've had chronic fatigue for years and became accustomed to being sick and living a restricted lifestyle but this seems progressive and I fear I don't have long . I really appreciate any advice or replies .

HSV is known to trigger various Autoimmune diseases. Have you ruled out autoimmunity? Do you have any high inflammatory markers or positive autoantibodies?

For Autoimmunity, IVIG works by reducing inflammation and inhibiting the binding of harmful autoantibodies.

Your symptoms are similar to mine except I have various Autoimmune encephalitis symptoms as well.

Thank you for your reply , I forgot to add that I'm also getting atrophy in right calve muscle . I'm very scared this is turning into ALS

When I push myself or overexert the tingling and burning in brain acts up also when under fluorescent lighting .

Have you had any atrophy as well?

I need to do something drastic , would I be better off with IVIG or iv antivirals ?

But when I'm standing and not flexing my right leg looks more normal and uniform with my left .does this look like atrophy ? Are there any other conditions that present like this that aren't ALS?

Are you sure it is HSV2 ? I could be some enterovirus, coxsackie B, echovirus...
I'm not positive , I'm testing negative for hsv 2 and this is 4 months after exposure but it all started after the girl I was dating got a "uti" where it was burning when she pee'd , she said she gets em all the time and it's no big deal . The next day she had a blister on her face near her nose . I examined her facebook photos and she had a scar exactly where she gets the blister so it's recurrent . She also has constant lower back pain (which I now have) , dizziness , "migraines " that last for a week and she had a bout where her left leg went completely numb and she couldn't move it for like 2 months . She also has hashimotos thyroid disease.

When we first started dating I demanded we both be tested for all STDs and she was negative for hsv . But on the way to the test she said that 8 years prior when she was pregnant that her gynocologist informed her that she had an STD and "it might of been genital herpes"but she couldn't remember . If she had any treatable STD than she would of been prescribed antibiotics so it had to of been viral .

After all this stuff happened I confronted her about it and she blocked all my calls and refuses to speak to me at all . She has mental health issues obviously .

The burning skin , muscle cramping , burning and itching in genital area , lower back pain are all consistent with hsv 2 as well . I also got burning blisters on my leg when all of this first happened .

Whatever virus it is it has made its way into my brain.

I'm waiting on bloodwork to come back for hsv PCR DNA test of the blood ...

Anyone have any advice ? Steroids ? Acyclovir? IVIG ? Lethal dose of heroin to put me out of my misery ? Lol

Anyway I appreciate the replies and any further replies and hope everyone here is staying strong and pushing forward

I don't know much about HSV2. Maybe Pridgen Protocol ? Famvir and Celecoxib.

I think it is @SK2018 who had the same story as you with HSV2.

Thank you for the reply , and yah Shawn has similar issues but thankfully for him they weren't progressive like this and no atrophy . He also had a positive PCR swab of a blister for hsv 2 but repeatedly tests negative for antibodies even though he tests positive for other viruses indicating no immunodeficiency. I've talked to quite a few people that had the same issue with hsv 2, it seems to be a very aggressive virus for some people .

ThAnk you for the reply I'm gonna look into the protocol you mentioned

Majority of the population is infected with at least some of these herpesviruses, 67% with HSV-1 according to one statistic, HSV-2 was not given a number. But anyway, these viruses are extremely common and in most people do not cause problems except for the occasional outbreak. There is something called herpesviral encephalitis, which is brain infection with one of the herpesviruses, but it is very rare. With viral encephalitis treatment is intravenous acyclovir and untreated encephalitis causes rapid death in 70% of cases.

Anyway I think it's unlikely that HSV-2 alone would cause all of your symptoms and there is no reason to think HSV-2 would cause death unless it's acute encephalitis. A normally working immune response is able to keep herpesviruses in check. It is true that that these viruses seem to cause more problems for people with ME/CFS who often have a compromised immune response, but are they the root cause of the problem, we don't currently know. Most doctors who treat ME/CFS are more concerned about EBV and coxsackieviruses.

I had chronic fatigue since I caught mono at age 14 , I never recovered . Had issues with anxiety , depression , fatigue , overstimulation , insomnia , chronic thrush and athletes foot, sensitivity to light and sound , food allergies and intolerances , very under weight , gut issues and hormones problems . I was out on benzos for 5 years and when I came off them everything got 10 times worse . Than I started trying to self treat issues starting with candida and really made things even worse . I became completely bed ridden for several years . I simplified my diet and pushed mysekf to get a job delivering pizzas and I slowly made some progress .

The hsv seems to be the straw that broke the camels back , my immune system just couldn't take it . That along with the extreme stress and anxiety right after contracting it let it run rampant in my body .

I have autointoxication when I eat . Like I'll wake up in the morning cramping all over and eat pancakes and eggs and the cramping will stop but than fatigue and lethargy and brain fog set in , after lunch it's another dose and I'll normally need a nap and than wake up feeling terrible .

I learned that with chronic fatigue and your stuck in th2 response the only way to reduce the bad inflammation and get the th1 response is with exercise and stress reduction .

When my body starts detoxing the excitotoxicity increases as the toxins dull the senses .

Basically if I detox my body the inflammatory response to this virus gets stronger and I feel more energy and better state of mind but I feel like my legs are gonna buckle out from under me and acute weakness gets worse like the nerves are disconnecting

if I keep my body toxic and I'm sedentary I feel very fatigued and heavy and weak .

I'm not sure what to do .

One thing I learned is that herbs and supplements always made everything worse . For CFS it's about slowing exercising , reducing stress, and slowly building immune function . What I have going on now is different , and all my old tricks aren't working .
