Certified Nutritional Consultant Brenda Watson announces her fourth PBS television special, The Road to Perfect Health Balance Your Gut, Heal Your Body, an in-depth look at how chronic diseases start with an unhealthy digestive system.
Brenda Watson is among the foremost authorities in America today on natural healthcare. Her books and PBS shows provide a straightforward and whole-body approach to improving health through proper nutrition and supplementation.
This latest TV special aired during the November/December pledge drive and will air again for the February/March pledge drive and throughout 2011, reaching over 85% of U.S. households. Consumers can visit http://www.brendawatson.com for more information and a link to PBS for showtimes in their area.
This show has already raised over a million dollars for PBS and was one of the top-rated shows in the national year-end pledge drive.
This was mainly due to the shows compelling, eye-opening message and coinciding 660 page natural health reference book available with the top pledge level, titled The Road to Perfect Health Balance Your Gut, Heal Your Body: A Modern Guide to Curing Chronic Disease, co-authored by Leonard Smith, M.D., Rick Sponaugle M.D. and Jamey Jones B.Sc.
The comprehensive yet easy-to-read format takes an individual look at the bodys major internal systems and over 50 common health conditions. Suzanne Somers states,This book is a must for every household and doctors office.
Both the PBS show and the book explain how digestive imbalances can lead to many illnesses outside of the digestive system. Brenda offers natural solutions for bringing the body back into balance with dietary and lifestyle changes that will turn ones health around and help make informed decisions about health by addressing underlying factors that lead to chronic disease.
Its a fascinating journey that begins in the gutwhere more than 80 percent of the bodys natural defenses are foundand ends with an in-depth look at the extraordinary benefits of probiotics. Probiotics play a vital role in optimal digestion and immune function, and they are the key to a strong GPS, or Gut Protection System.
As a nation, weve got serious digestion and elimination problems, but aside from the epidemic levels of digestive disorders and disturbances, Americans are also plagued with a host of autoimmune disorders and so-called diseases of civilization like chronic fatigue syndrome, high cholesterol, joint problems, anxiety, depression and diabetes, states Brenda.
Since these afflictions do not take place in the gut, most people believe that digestive health is a separate entity from cardiovascular, psychological, and other types of health, but in truth, the gut is the root and core of our total general well being. Its the place where food is broken down into the building blocks of our cells.
Its the first line of defense against invading pathogens and infectious diseases. Its our protection against environmental toxins leaking into the bloodstream.
Brenda explains how a multitude of factors in modern life can negatively impact the ability of the GPS to do its job including aging, antibiotics, yeast overgrowth, parasites, undigested food and unhealthy food choices, environmental toxins, and the long term use of antacids.
The good bacteria in the gut support a variety of intestinal functions like synthesizing vitamins, producing digestive enzymes, helping with the absorption of nutrients, protecting the intestinal lining, supporting and stimulating the immune system, and enhancing the bodys own detoxification process. By balancing the gut, one can heal the body and build a strong foundation of good health.
