We have a number of ways that we can help people suffering with ME/CFS and I have attached some information about Breakspear and the treatments that we offer. Most of our patients are able to resume active lives after their treatment here.
You will be required to visit us for an appointment with one of our specialist physicians on a Monday to Thursday morning, the cost of which is £195 to see Dr Monro or £155 to see Dr Goyal, Dr Bajaj or Dr Segner. At this consultation the doctor will discuss your history, family medical history and any other information which may be of relevance, such as chemical exposure and home and working environment. They will also perform a thorough physical examination.
After this consultation, recommendations will be made and an estimate detailing investigations will be drawn up for you. The cost for investigations usually amounts to between £1000 to £1500, but may be higher. If you would like to proceed with any of these, we will be able to take samples on the day and supply you with any urine and stool kits to take home. You will be under no obligation to proceed with any of the recommendations made.
Once the results of the investigations are through, you should book a follow up with the physician and they will recommend an individualised treatment plan for you. This plan can be prioritised in order of importance, if you wish.
Further visits may be required for treatment; this can sometimes involve around two weeks or more of intensive treatment at the hospital followed by programmes that can be completed at home with the occasional visit to the hospital, but this will be determined by the doctor depending on the results of the investigations. Treatment can last around 2 years, and sometimes beyond, but this is dictated by a number of factors such as underlying causes, how one's body responds to treatment, whether there are any infections involved and one's ability to manage lifestyle changes etc.
If you require further information, please let me know.
