Bracken Fern - cancer risk?

After the recent continuous heavy rainfall here in Sydney, I have Bracken Fern springing up around my house. After doing some reading I find that just living in a location where Bracken Fern grows can increase your risk of dying from gastric adenocarcinoma!

How odd. I ate fiddlehead fern at a wild edible plant class. Wonder if that's a problem too? Oh, well. Too late now.
