Has anyone seen this type of Dr. and been helped. They seem to have great knowledge about all kinds of drugs....not just psychiatric drugs.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks.

I was a pharmacist for 23 years. I worked as a community pharmacist. I am very much improved. In my case pharmaceuticals helped alleviate some severe symptoms but did nothing as far as actually healing.
The exception was valtrex And Celebrex ( modified Pridgen Protochol) .
I still take tramadol and
Clonazepam.
Also marajuana helped my symptoms greatly . ( did not try until this year due to it being illegal.)
I think a pharmacologist could help but I thought the medical community approached my illness much too conservatively. I think out of the box thinking is needed to effectively manage this illness.
Basically when I started trying to figure things out myself and got a family doctor who will work with me is when I really started improving.
In my case mold avoidance.
Spending my time running to specialist got me nothing but frustration.
Good luck .

The dr that first helped me was actually my psychiatrist, and he is a renowned psychopharmacologist who does a lot of consulting. My entire family has ADHD, so everyone thought I was extra weird for being the odd one out. We NOW know I've had ME since I was about 4, so it makes sense. But brain fog, POTS, low body temp and low BP, all registered with this Dr immediately. He put me on a stimulant and fludrocortisone and no matter how sick i am now 17 years later, the years just those two things gave were such a gift. He would have gone farther with treating me if we knew then what the extent of this illness was, too. It is worth a discussion.

I had very, very bad luck going down that path, and unless you can find one who is well-versed in your symptoms and diagnosis, and comes highly recommended either by friends/family that you trust or a Dr you have faith in, I'd avoid them. The Klonopin he put me on almost killed me, and the anti-depressant came close to finishing off the job.

Approach with caution.

This is an old thread but someone in my grief group wanted people to pass this warning along to others. Her sister died recently and the autopsy found Fentanyl.

She said her sister was adamant against the use of other drugs; that marijuana was the only drug her sister would use. The poster said that means that unknown to users, street marijuana is now being laced with Fentanyl. :(

I don't use anything like that but wanted to let others know. Please pass it along especially if you know someone who does.

That's an important warning since a fair number of members here have tried, or are using, marijuana as an assist in dealing with this illness, and if fentanyl is present in street forms it could be present in the more 'upscale' sources as well.

I'm so sorry for the useless, accidental, and untimely death of the sister of one of your grief group friends. We're all just looking for ways to deal with pain and illness, but none of us generally intend anything that .... radically terminal.
