Any Improvement with Astragalus & Ligustrum?

I'm currently working with a Naturopath who actually accepts Medicaid. He suggested (and sells) Astragalus and Ligustrum supplement. I've been on it for two weeks, it may be helping some. I've been taking Co Q10 for a few months and it improved the severity of the migraines. Now it seems they've stopped for the moment, perhaps the Chinese herbs are helping.

I haven't found much info through the forum search, except a mention that astragalus may be antiviral and perhaps does something to the immune system.

Anyone find this stuff worthwhile? I'm also thinking about adding the Simplified Methylation Protocol to the mix. Any thoughts on that? Thanks.

From what i have read astragalus helps stimulate interferon production which improves our immune system and nk function and is how its antiviral effects work. Personally i have only noticed mild effects from it eg helps with colds etc
Also used for adrenal fatigue but unsure exactly how it works there, maybe through its antioxidant effects??

I will back up what Sally says, its a combo of your supps that help, individually not so much.

cheers!!!

Astragalus seems to have some good research behind it. It gets frequently prescribed for us as an immune modulator (it's a key ingredient in Equilibrant, which as I understand it was developed by Dr. Chia, and has since been prescribed by Dr. Klimas and her colleagues). May help with improving natural killer cell function.

So it does seem to be a good one. ...Though like many other things, the impact probably isn't going to be miraculous.

Yep - been on low dose of astragalus, along with other herbs in a tincture for couple years now. I have had some improvements - especially in immune function - had only one minor lung infection in 18 months (miraculous for me!) and dont catch everything going anymore - system just generally more robust and less fragile. No cure, but very helpful. Am finding CoQ10 helpful now as well - but couldnt tolerate it when more ill. Strange that, because i know i have a deficiency and i know it is helping now with energy (along with MB12 injections) but when i was first prescribed it it made me feel horrible so didnt start it regularly until a few months ago.

Stick with it. ,My experience with integrative docs and herbalist is that it takes time and you can get some improvements, but its not fast.

All the best of luck with this, Justy .
