Antibiotics

Hi all,

I started an antibiotic (Septra 800mg 2x/day) for an ear infection 4 days ago. I have been having PEM-like symptoms ever since starting them, and I hadn't had PEM since August (I am being extremely careful.) Is the antibiotic causing this? (Of course, it probably is.)

Can I stop the AB? I have taken 7 pills out of 14. It feels like if I keep taking them, they'll cause a major crash. My ear only hurts if I put pressure near the tragus, and it's still blocked but has started popping from time to time.

Thank you for your time.

Are you sure it's not the infection itself that is making you crash?
Things affecting the inner ear can cause quite a few varied symptoms plus inevitable exhaustion and weakness, dizziness, etc.

It's widely accepted that the problem with stopping an antibiotic before the course is completed is that bacteria may still survive as antibiotic-resistant.
Your doctor would probably agree.
But that idea is being challenged in this article on Live Science
