3. Acknowledging that NIH (and other cooperating agencies) will ultimately determine the federal investment, the CFSAC recommends a minimum of $60 million of direct dollars to be dedicated to fund 12 centers which will serve patient communities across different regions of the U.S, based on scientific, clinical and geographic factors.

4. Funding for each center should be provided at a minimum of $1 million of direct dollars per center per year for a minimum of a 5 year period.
