    Blows my mind that we are still even having this debate. The most basic practical requirement of science is that others can independently check your work and claims. If your methods and data are not available for scrutiny, then there is no science to your claim.

    What if some researchers simply don't care about the quality of their science?

    Maybe the language is too bastardized? Instead of scientist and researcher, how about journal pundit for authors who don't share data? And researchist and sciencer for those who do? :D
