He is a vegetarian 13 year old so eats bread products (pizza, grilled cheese, etc), dairy (especially cheese), vegetables and fruit. Not a lot of processed foods and mostly organic.

Does he get B12 supplementation? A vegetarian diet would be pretty low in that, as it's only naturally found in meats.

When he was very young, she tried a gluten free diet with him but it did not seem to have much impact. We have not tried the gluten free diet with him recently. Other symptoms include sensory sensitivity, anxiety, bipolar, and borderline aspergers.

Valentijn -

Considering his mutations, what form of B12 might work best for him?

Thanks!

ADHD seems most related to MTHFR A1298C rs1801131 GG +/+ (as is autism, bipolar, OCD, migraines...a long list). Supplementation with methylfolate might help. Many on this site say it's good to have some B12 when you use methylfolate, although I'd be more concerned if he had the MTRR A66G SNP. Supplementation with Vitamin D may also make a difference.

He's got the slow version of some SNPs associated with using up methyl groups, so he might have trouble tolerating the additional methyl groups from methylB12. Hence hydroxoB12 would probably be the safer one to try.
