Hello,
I've been lurking here for a few days and reading threads, different protocols. Isn't it ironic that a condition that requires massive amounts of reading, discerning and planning is something that can take away your mental facilities? I'm overwhelmed with information.
I've resolved this year to stop pretending this isn't part of my life and start to do something about it. I am not sure if CFS is due to digestive or viral reasons - but I have indicators of both. I have Candida overgrowth, thyroid problems, had Mono in 4th grade, have EBV in my system and have a wheat allergy.
I am not sure where to start or what to do next. I started a strict diet after Christmas with no wheat, no sugar and no dairy. I am trying to stay on that completely, but have had a few slip ups. I am supplementing with garlic, an anti-candida supplement, general vitamins (lots of b100, b12, magnesium, ribose, probiotics, a natural thyroid supplement, st john's wort). I have no health insurance currently but in 2008 finally got some testing done. My thyroid produces anti-t4, and this is also when I found out about the EBV (I do not remembering having it) in my system, as well as the confirmation of the wheat allergy that I suspected. The doc at the time recommended Armour Thyroid, Covalen M and a Type O diet (similar to a paleo/atkins plan).
I've been reading the various protocols and am not sure what methylation is or whether I'm a candidate for this type of protocol. I do know that candida has been a long term problem and while it won't solve everything, reducing it may help.
My questions are - has anyone had success in reducing candida overgrowth and did it help with cfs symptoms?
And would one of the methylation protocols be in addition to what I am already taking or would I substitute that protocol for my current supplements?
Thank you for any help - this is very difficult without financial or energetic resources.
