He stood up in Bristol and said that the patients were thoroughly horrible.

I cant even believe Dr would say this about a massive population of sick patients 17 to 22 million world wide.

How utterly disgusting. Shameful.

Do you @Jonathan Edwards have him quoting this either via a video, article or minutes from the meeting.

This group of people have done so much harm and continue to blame the sick as we have not one approved treatment because of them.

How Orwellian can you get?

The only person I have come across besmirching patients was Peter White. He stood up in Bristol and said that the patients were thoroughly horrible.

And it is only because of the PACE trial that I have come to realise that standards in psychiatric research are so much below that in medicine.

There is something called leading by example. Some people don't seem to get it.
Would you be able to expand on this. I'd love to hear the whole story.

The story has been running for a few years now and I don't think is new to many here. Essentially White, Wessely, and various associates, including a professor of data protection called Anderson who the PACE authors brought in to trash patients at the FOI tribunal have accused patients of attacking science in a malicious way, being like animal rights activists or borderline psychopaths or whatever. The presentation in Bristol was to an audience that carefully debarred patients, although a few notable patients were present in their capacity as officers of charities and research team members.

Ditto. About five years ago I realized the PACE trial is like the Rosetta Stone. It exemplifies so much of what is going wrong. The issues are not unfixable, but will not be fixed so long as so many are in denial.

Over a decade ago I attended a presentation by an evaluation specialist who had completed an evaluation of psychiatric interventions conducted across a region with a population of over two million people. He was quite blunt in his conclusions:
1. On a population level the evidence indicated that psychiatric intervention was ineffective.
2. Psychiatry follows fashion, not evidence.
