Both of my kids one boy and one girl have gotten stretch marks at age 13. Is this a b12 defficiency? I got them too when I was that age. Neither one are over weight, they are actually on the thin side.

Both my daughters have stretch marks as do I (thighs, tummy and breasts). They came on in the teens. None of us were over weight and one daughter is actually a bit too thin. According to Raymond Perrin (UK osteopath that specialises in treating ME) this is something he sees frequently with PWE. He explained that it was a result of adrenal insufficiency (which is also true for us). All three of us have had to deal with ME.

It is tough to deal with helping your children when you are struggling to help yourself. When my second daughter started to show signs of ME, my older daughter and myself had already started to move toward recovery. So I used the principles that had helped us to try and stop her from succumbing. I changed her diet and added supplements to support her nutrition, she attended school part-time so she could rest and pace herself and she had a small amount of treatment from Raymond Perrin .... she did not need so much, because we caught it early. It worked and she pulled back from the brink.

That is great that you found what could help you and the kids. I just need to get on the road to recovery. Starting methylation has helped me, but it takes time.

How about putting Vitamin E oil on the stretch marks. Worked for me, mine was from weight gain though.

Hi Y'all;

Stretch marks, or striae, may indicate a zinc deficiency.

Or Elhers-Danlos syndrome type 3. I got stretch marks at 13 and have Eds. It is a collagen disorder relatively common in ME.

Striae may also occur as a result of abnormal collagen formation, or a result of medications or chemicals that interfere with collagen formation. They may also be associated with longtime use of cortisone compounds,diabetes, Cushing disease, and post-pregnancy.

I got them young too in places like my thighs which werent caused by teenage pregnancy and I wasnt at all overweight.

Ive heard they can also be caused just throu genetic tendancy.

What some perceive to be striae (stretch marks) from Bartonella may actually be the result of elevated MMPs (Matrix metalloproteinase). It can be the result of multiple infections but is an indication of the breakdown of tissue. Microbes activate an enzyme to mush up our tissues and make us a comfortable food.

PS: This is an excerpt from a website I kept in my personal files in the past. Didn't keep the reference however.

I had them when I was 12 and probably when I was 10. In my case, the cause was having fibromyalgia and being forced to exercise. I had the common trigger points which are like knotted up hard spots. These areas would bulk up after exercise, and it was too much too fast, so I got stretch marks in those areas. I also had improper nutrition and hydration, but I am sure nutrition and hydration would not have prevented them in my case. I tried some creams on mine which didn't help much. By the time I tried creams, I probably had them at least 6 months.
