Hi @MargUK - Yeah, way too much we are all stumbling around in the dark with this illness, trying to figure out what is doing what. One thing that has helped me a lot is muscle testing done by a competent chiropractor. He helped me sort out several different digestive issues and found my weak adrenals, and also helped with detoxing issues. I eventually learned to do it myself, but still go see a chiropractor periodically to check on things. Without the muscle testing, I know I would be a lot worse off. Because the regular doctors were helpless with all of this.

And also I've used myself as a guinea pig dozens of times with various supplements, and the muscle testing has been invaluable there, helping me to sort out if I was sick or detoxing or reacting to a supplement, etc.

Re the future - I'm better off than I was 10 years ago, due to all my experimenting and reading (and the muscle testing, of course). I'm on I think a pretty good course of supplements, overall have more energy, don't get sick as much, though of course am still quite limited in what I can do due to PEM. But I think there's reason for hope.

It sounds like you have a good plan - good luck!

That's really interesting @Mary - I would never have thought to use a Chiropractor for those sorts of issues at all. So would a good one know what to do if you said you wanted muscle testing? What is that exactly? Is it just what it says on the tin or is there more to it? I would imagine that involves a lot of physical effort to your body in a session - how did you cope with that? And how did you find a good Chiropractor who knows about this stuff or is it something they do as a matter of course? I'm so terrified of doing something that will make me word<

Sorry @Mary my iPad froze there for some unknown reason. God if it gives up on me I will definitely go insane! Can you imagine having this illness and not being able to reach out to folk through the Internet or do any research online? Doesn't bear thinking about! I meant to say I'm terrified of doing something which will make me worse because sometimes I feel when my body is assaulted by some evil something or other it never seems to ever get back to wherever it was beforehand and that really scares me. It sounds like you've had the opposite experience though if you've ultimately improved - is that right?

@MargUK - another term for muscle testing is applied kinesiology or nutritional response testing, and not all chiropractors do it, though many do. You can just call and ask them if they do and they should tell you. Another way to find someone is through this website: http://www.kinesiologyfederation.co.uk/search/

If you go to youtube and do a search for "nutritional response testing" which is what it is often called by chiropractors, or "muscle testing", you'll see several videos about how it's done. It doesn't involve a lot of physical effort. They can do it with you standing up or lying down; watch a couple of videos.

I have gone backwards at times - I have reacted badly to various supplements - I have done a lot of detoxing which made me feel like crap a lot of the time - I've also been sick a lot. But - muscle testing helped me work through all of this. It helped me determine what was going on, to know if I was reacting badly to supplement so I should stop it; or keep taking it and decrease or increase my dose; or if I was detoxing and what would help with that; or if I happened to just be sick. I'm pretty sure it would have helped me if I was going through what you just did, to determine if it was the B complex or if you were just sick. Or something else altogether.

e.g., at one time I was weak as a kitten, didn't have a clue why. Went to my doctor who gave me Prozac(!) Right. I wasn't weak from lack of Prozac and hated the way it made me feel, so stopped it after 2 days. I eventually found the chiropractor who found that my adrenals were wiped out and gave me an adrenal glandular supplement from Standard Process and within a few days my energy started to return. That's one example.

My progress was very slow over a long time. But I did make progress. I had to keep trying things and different doses etc. but the muscle testing was a guide which helped me through all of that.

Most people wont' try muscle testing because it sounds too strange to them. I was desperate and willing to do anything if it didn't hurt me, and it was the best thing I've ever done and still do.

Thanks so much @Mary - I had a look at that website and found a practitioner about 20 minutes drive away who seems to specialise in health kinesiology so I'll try contacting her and see what she suggests. There was someone in my home town but he didn't seem to be qualified in anything so that put me off. I'll let you know how I get on.

At the moment my confidence has been zapped quite a bit recently and I've developed a fear of becoming ill while going out - especially if I'm going somewhere where someone might not understand my symptoms. I do have some Diazepam though which sometimes helps. I certainly don't like taking it (especially as it means pre-empting being ill in that I have to take it a good hour before going anywhere) but if it means the difference between getting help and being a prisoner in my own house, I know which one I'd prefer!

Thanks so much for your support!
