Just an update from what I've been hearing: information is being requested from groups to collate information on them so people will know more about what they are voting for. Groups should ideally reply by the end of Friday (so if you're connected to a group, encourage them to check their e-mail). When this information is together, we can have a poll.

Does anyone think that the IACFS/ME being listed at Chase and at Guide Star as AACFS (American Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) could be a problem? I wonder what it would take to get the changes made at both places. Chase may not have a problem with it as long as there is documentation that the change was made. It does make me a bit nervous.~~~~I just checked and I see that that IACFS is used in the mission statement.

Enterovirus Foundation and A Martin Lerner foundation have not filled out their profiles.

If anyone has any personal contacts there, maybe they could say something. I would sure like to see the research foundations make the top 10 list!

thanks

Can someone please give me an overview of this contest? i.e. how many organisations win, what are the prizes, when does the voting take place etc.

(sorry, too brainfogged to look through the thread right now...)

Dr. Lerner returned the requested info. I thanked him and reminded him about the Profile Page and sent him the link to his. We need to check to be sure he gets it completed. Haven't heard from Enterovirus.

does anyone already know for which organisations will we vote? i checked that Me/cfs fundraising facebook group - they supposed to say a proposal but there is nothing new. I dont want to stress but it will start tomorow. I think without a list of 10 preferable organisations it will be again really chaotic like the last year and we will not be successfull. But maybe I dont have all informations.

Voting for Chase doesn't start tomorrow.
From what I understand: information is being gathered (charities have replied to some questions and been encouraged to fill in their profiles on Chase) which will hopefully help people make up their minds. Cort will be doing a piece using it. Hopefully we can still have a poll, maybe starting on Sunday - charities were encouraged to reply by the end of today. I'm not doing the work - well done to those that are.

Does anyone know if The Enterovirus Foundation will be taking part? This is Dr Chia's foundation, it is a not-for-profit organisation based in California.

http://www.enterovirusfoundation.org/index.shtml

I have been trying to reach Dr. Chia or the Enterovirus Foundation to make sure they get the info about the contest. I sent a message to the Enterovirus Foundation website, but am afraid they may not check the messages often. I cannot find Dr. Chia at UCLA to send him an email. The Enterovirus Foundation Profile Page needs to be completed at Chase. Does anyone have an email address for him?

This is a little late for the info-gathering deadline, but I looked it up on PubMed and sent you a note.

RE: Dr. Chia: I had a quick look back but couldn't find the E-mail. I once wrote to them and I think had to write more than once to get a reply. It was Andrew who replied in the end, many months after. I also came across two people who said they never got replies (and these were research-type people). He is probably a busy man.

Article on the Front Page on the Contest with blurbs about the organizations involved, how to vote, etc.

Good work, Cort.

I'm still hoping we can have one or more polls to give people an idea who might have the best chance of success. Nice as it is to give any groups a vote, I prefer to vote for groups that have a chance of winning.

Sorry to push ahead but it was important for me to get the word out early for a couple of reasons.

A) Chase is right around the corner
B) I sending all the orgs a template they can use if they wish to email their members and I needed to get a link up. The orgs need time to contact their members and their members need time to respond and the contest is starting in 3 days.
C) I picked out the most prominent groups, (RESCIND declined) and there are 11 groups listed. I am happy to amend the list if needed. Based on the responses to my emails to the groups involved my guess is that most are not going to respond unfortunately.

Thanks Cort. No complaints. Like you said, time is pushing on. Hopefully things will become clearer later today when to start a poll.

The Administrative Board of the ME (ME/CFS) Fundraising Group is planning a strategy meeting very soon. Perhaps they and PR can coordinate strategizing efforts.

I don't know how you found the right links (I can't find them) but this post has been invaluable to me - thanks!

Cort, the links are on the profile/voting pages of each organization at the lower right. Willow J. figured it out.

To find the links to direct back to a nonprofit, when you have searched and you have the charity up, look towards the bottom right of the page: there is a text box with a bitly link under a header of "Link to this page". The bitly link in that box is the permalink.

edit: well, I don't know that it's a permalink, per se, but it is the link that goes back to that charity's page rather than to the search page :Retro smile:

Thanks for checking about Dr. Chia's email, Dolphin. Thank Willow J. for the email address you sent. I have sent Dr. Chia the letter to that email address.
