what type of specialist should I see?

Hi all, my family doctor has agreed that I should see a specialist but for the last 3 times she has seen me she keeps saying she hasn't sent a referral because she doesn't know what kind of specialist she should refer to. She keeps saying "maybe a neurologist." Does anyone know what kind of specialist I should see for CFS? I have only seen my family doctor over the past 2 years since this all started, as well as a lung specialist who did a sleep study to make sure I wasn't tired from not sleeping well/snoring at night (I'm not!).

Thank you Thegriz! I was able to find someone who is interested in autonomic diseases. Hopefully they are accepting patients. Thanks to your suggestion!

I am wondering about this as well. My doctor suggested a neurologist also, but I am skeptical about them knowing anything. I went to one 3 years ago during a severe relapse where I was sure I had MS. The neuro ruled it out and sent me on my way.

I've looked at the map and there are no CFS experts near me. There is a specialist naturopath a ferry ride and some from me, but I don't have insurance that covers them.

I went to a rheumatologist a few years back who tried me on neurontin that I could not tolerate, printed out a bunch of mainline info that said basically nothing can be done, asked me what I wanted her to do. How do you answer that?? I have more ideas now, but... Is there any point in trying another Rheumy?

What are autonomic specialists?

@MariaMagdalena
both rheumy and Neuro is a good idea
but it depends on your symptoms who to see. my experiences with rheumys were mixed but it was a rheumy who diagnosed me with ME.(but he didnt know what to do)
go and see another one.
two Rheumys two opinions.
Neuros should know about dysautonomia stuff or at least they should.
